International Reggae Day (IRD) is a global celebration of Jamaican culture produced and anchored in Jamaica on July One and staged in collaboration with our partners including VP Records and content partners around the world. This year, IRD2021 returns to the roots of Reggae music’s message, with the theme “1Love”, a principle and affirmation first articulated by Marcus Garvey, contextualized by Rastafari and popularized by Bob Marley and Reggae music.

The 1Love Rally this year will explore the many facets of romantic and spiritual love amplified through Reggae music – love for Self, Family, Community, Country, Culture and our Planet. In addition to a 24-Hr virtual broadcast event, there will be a “1Love Pull-up” virtual gathering at 12:05 Jamaica time. Media and Reggae fans around the world will synchronize on-air and online to pause.and re-imagine a post covid world fueled by the healing power of love.

This IRD campaign activity will kick off with a trio of Jamaican classics - Marley’s "One Love" anthem followed by Dennis Brown’s classic "Love and Hate" and Wailing Souls' "Jah Give Us Life to Life." There are multiple ways for Reggae fans and Media to participate in the campaign this year including a virtual fan wall sponsored by www.kudoboards.com for Reggae fans around the world to share their messages, videos, fan art and other Reggae themed content. The virtual event stream anchored in the cultural mecca of Kingston, home of Jamaican music will start at 12 midnight (JA) on July One.
