2020 has been short on meme-worthy celebrity fashion moments. All the canceled events and digital front rows have meant fewer people on the red carpet, or even outdoors at all. While the precautions are logical—no runway or award is worth risking health complications—it’s hard not to miss a little outré style drama. Outfits that break the internet, spark conversation, and get turned into GIFs are few and far between, making Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Vol. 2 show feel all the more exciting. With a cast comprised of some of the most fearless dressers in Hollywood and a sexy theme to set the mood, Savage x Fenty gave its stars an excuse to break out their boldest and most revealing pieces. When you’ve got Bella Hadid, Willow Smith, and Rosalía all in one room, the clothes are bound to excite—and everyone arrived wearing their own interpretation of savage sexy.
For some, the show was a chance to go full glam. As a rule, Paris Hilton doesn’t dress down, but her transparent tiered gown was an extreme version of her iconic look. Likewise, Soo Joo Park’s leather little black dress was undeniably sultry, even when paired with matching cowboy boots. Others opted for custom pieces with a dominatrix vibe; in leather and lace Chrome Hearts with coordinating diamond chains, Irina Shayk radiated power, for example. Bella Hadid took the same brand in a different direction, wearing Chrome Hearts leather jeans, a white tank, and Amina Muaddi heels.
Of course, it wasn’t all overt sexiness. In an upcycled Sevali look that utilized Louis Vuitton’s monogram multicore, Rosalía took everyone back to the early 2000s and the craze for Takashi Murakami’s pastel reimagining of the house’s classic logo. With head-totoe print and multiple mini-bags clipped to her waist, the Spanish singer looked ready for anything.
As Savage x Fenty’s designer, performer, and all-around boss, Rihanna ruled the evening—and her come-hither ensemble reflected that. Who else could pull off fishnets and a leather blazer cinched with a diamond-encrusted Chrome Hearts belt? Sultry as ever in long black gloves and multiple blinged-out crosses, her star shone bright across both the show and the newly-revived red carpet.
